Richard W. Collins Maryland Department of the Environment Waste Management Administration 2500 Broening Highway Baltimore, MD 21224 Dear Mr. Collins, I'm writing to you to express my opposition to the proposed Chesapeake Terrace Landfill for which Mr. Warren Halle has requested a permit from the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). This landfill would immediately impact my home and quality of life. The following are some of the more important reasons why I oppose this landfill: 1. It has NOT been proven that there is a NEED for this rubble landfill. 2. The narrow, winding, county roads are inadequate to handle the proposed truck traffic. 3. Our drinking water, which comes from a well, would be in jeopardy of being contaminated. 4. The aquifer which sits beneath this proposed landfill could be contaminated, which would not only impact my community's water supply, but that of many other communities. 5. The air pollution would be detrimental to my health as I suffer from allergies. 6. Our pristine wetlands would be threatened. 7. My property value will decrease. 8. The quality of life (peace and quite) that I, as well as my family, have inherited down through generations will not longer exist because a developer wishes to alter my environment for profit. I urgently request that MDE not issue a Refuse Disposal Permit to the Chesapeake Terrace Rubble Landfill. Sincerely, cc: Governor Parris N. Glendening Senator Robert R. Neall Delegate Robert C. Baldwin Delegate Janet Greenip Delegate David G. Boschert County Executive Janet S. Owens County Councilman William D. Burlison County Councilman John R. Klocko
